Meet the Crew

Captain Darien Hill is a U S Coast Guard licensed Master Mariner, Sail, Oceans.  His great love for the sea has led him to over 30 yrs of experience on all of the world’s oceans except the Arctic.  As a child he was obsessed with anything do to with the sea.  His first boat of his own came when he was eleven years old and he later refurbished an old sailboat as a school science project.

His maritime ambitions led him to the US Navy to become a Quartermaster First Class (Navigator.)    As a member of the bridge team, he became proficient in many forms of navigational duties including rules of the road, celestial navigation, radar navigation, ship handling, chart plotting, chart and pub corrections, weather, and more.   Capt Hill has sailed all over the world on vessels large and small, power and sail, and has a great love for ocean sailing and a passion for sharing that love with others.

Darien also enjoys ocean racing.  Among some of the races in which he has competed are the Kenwood Cup (now called the Transpac or Transpacific Yacht Race) and the Around the State Race in Hawaii.  Most recently he competed in the 2012 Regatta al Sol, a race from Pensacola, FL to Isla Mujares, Quintana Roo, Mexico in which the boat and crew placed 1st in class.

Captain Trachelle Hill is a US Coast Guard licensed Master, 200 Ton.  Her love for sailing began in the Hawaiian Islands where she and her husband Darien sailed to and explored the islands of Oahu, Maui, Lanai and Moloka’i.  Her sailing experience has come from several ocean crossings.  She has sailed on the Pacific Ocean, the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, the Western Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.  She loves the peace and tranquility of sailing as well as the adventure of exploring new places and meeting new people.  She is a novice racer and enjoyed crewing aboard “Serentiy” which took third place in the 74th Knost Regatta.
